Dutch Kings Day in the Sky
An exclusive invitation from the Hague & Rotterdam and partners for a unique networking experience sipping afternoon cocktails whilst being lifted 100ft high into the London skyline – to receive such an awesome invite was a real honour, I had expected to have to fight for a place – turns out my colleagues are not that brave.
What is ‘Kings Day’ all about?
It’s ~King Willem-Alexander’s official birthday
It’s a big celebration in Holland, a national holiday, a real party and carnival occasion – you know how the Dutch like to party! Many dress up in something orange and go out onto the streets celebrating! of course I carried on this theme with my orange shoes!
There was a serious business purpose to the event, to remind us what Rotterdam and the Hague can offer for meetings and incentives. From small VIP meetings to large congresses the Hague and Rotterdam can offer a brilliant solution for all. Well-connected and central and often somewhere new for delegates, these destinations have a lot to offer.
The Skytable is a temporary pop-up that’s located close to the north Greenwich tube station, in front of the O2 Arena. for 75 days you too can be transported to the skies!
The time came, we were strapped in securely – a few double checks later and we were on our way. Hardly a bump on the way up and there we were suspended 100 feet above the ground overlooking the O2 (and the people climbing it!) and the amazing London skyline.
Whilst we were in the air our bartenders and hosts made the most amazing cocktails, explaining their origin and background. It was a fantastic experience and one I would thoroughly recommend – although maybe not if you are afraid of heights!
